Why is a Jaffle called a Jaffle? 

Jaffles are an Aussie invention. The original Jaffle branded Jaffle iron was designed and patented in 1949 by Dr Earnest Smithers in Bondi, Australia.

The original filling was layer slices of ham, tomato, and your favourite melty cheese between two buttered pieces of bread, clamp it in your camping pie iron, and toast over the fire until golden. Add a swipe of Dijon mustard if you're feeling fancy.
